Please note that due to the artisanal craftsmanship involved in making our rugs, slight colour and size variations of up to +/-5% may occur.
Important note on colour representation: At Hunter and Nomad, we strive to provide the most accurate representation of our rugs' colours and patterns. However, please note that colour distortions may occur due to various factors:
- Different types of lighting: The appearance of colours can vary significantly under different lighting conditions (natural light, incandescent light, LED light, etc.).
- Filters used on social media: Images posted on social media platforms might be edited or filtered, which can alter the true colours of the rugs.
We recommend requesting a Sample (COMING SOON!) to ensure the colours meet your expectations.
How to wash your rug:
Wash rugs separately at cold temperature to 30º maximum, using only a small amount of laundry detergent to avoid colour fading. Do not use bleach or fabric softener. Do not leave it in the washer once the cycle is done as colour bleeding may happen.
Follow your wash with a tumble dry at a low temperature, then vacuum the rug after it is completely dry to make it soft and fluffy again.
Insider Tip: before washing your rug - drench any obvious marks with a soaking wet cloth and rub the mark to get most of the dirt out then let the washing machine do the rest.
Washing Machine Capacity:
The 140x200cm and 160x230cm size rug will fit in a washing machine (front and top loader) with a 7/8/9/10 kg washing capacity.
The 200x300cm, 245x305cm and 274x366cm sizes can be washed at a laundromat in a machine with a loading capacity of at least 13kg up to 22kg. Alternatively have it cleaned by a professional cleaner as the bigger sized rug will get very heavy when soaked.
How to maintain your rug:
- Avoid sun exposure to maintain the vibrant colours.
- If you find a long thread, cut it with scissors and do not pull it.
- Treat tough stains with a damp cloth. Do not use chemicals to treat stains.
Shedding of Natural Rugs
Each of our rugs is handwoven, with the finishing touches carefully completed using scissors. The fluff you may notice are the cotton fibres that remain within the weave after these final details are perfected. Please understand that this is normal and the shedding will become less overtime. With every rug we provide a complementary reusable sticky roller to remove any fluff off your clothing. Simply wash the roller with running water and a tiny bit of soap and let it air dry before you use it again.
Tips to minimise shedding of rug fibres:
- For the first few days, gently sweep the rug with a stiff broom in the direction of the plush.
- Use a Rug Pad to keep your rug securely in place and to reduce shedding.
- Lightly vacuum it once a week. Make sure NOT to have the vacuum on the setting closest to the ground.
- Take your rug outside for a good shake out to clear off any dust and fluff.
A Final Note: Don’t worry if you see fluff - it's a natural part of the process. With time and regular use, the shedding will diminish, be patient and let your rug settle in!
